Youth Novice Competitive Rowing and Coxing

FOR NEW ROWERS OR ROWERS IN THEIR FIRST SCHOLASTIC YEAR OF COMPETITION

The Essex novice squad is one of the premier programs in the northeast for new rowers to become involved with competitive side of the sport. Essex alumni have earned over 1.25 million dollars in athletic scholarships and this is where the vast majority of them began their journey in the sport. The novice program is specifically for athletes that are within their first year of rowing or coxing. Essex uses an intensive and methodical approach to the technical and physical development of athletes so that they may learn to move a rowing shell quickly and effectively. As athletes reach the appropriate skill level, they will begin to compete against novice athletes from other local and regional teams.
