About Methuen Crew

Methuen Public Schools and Essex Rowing Club, Inc. teamed up in the Spring of 2013 to form Methuen Crew, a scholastic rowing and sculling team for students of the Methuen Public Schools. Beginning in the Spring of 2018, that relationship has been formalized with Crew being fulling integrated into the athletic offerings of the High School. Participation is also open to high performing 7th and 8th grade athletes.

Methuen Crew returns to the water in March for the 2018 Spring Season. Regular season practices will begin March 19 with a pre-season option for returning rowers to start March 5. New athletes interested in joining the team should contact the Program Coordinator for information about registering. Participation is open to atheltes grades 7 though 12, with athletes training 5-6 days/week to compete against other club and scholastic programs throughout Massachusetts and the Northeast United States.

There is no fee to participate though competitive team members are responsible for their own racing expenses. All athletes are also expected to participate in team fundraising events.

March 7, 2018

New Rower Meetings To Be Rescheduled to March 12

In consideration of potentially dangerous driving conditions this evening we have rescheduled the meetings for new rowers and parents to Monday, March 12. There will be a meeting after school as well as a second at 7:30 pm for any athletes that could not stay after school or for parents that would like to meet the coach and learn more about the team. The after school meeting will be held in the cafeteria and the evening meeting will be held at our training facility that is located at 5 Branch Street in Methuen.

New Rower Meeting Scheduled for Wednesday March 7

Sign ups for new rowers will be on Wednesday March 7. An information table will be setup during lunches that day for anyone looking to meet the coaches and ask questions. Detailed information about practice and sign-ups will be available after school that same day. There will be third meeting on campus in the evening for any athlete unable to make the after school meeting or for parents that want to talk to the coaches. Both meetings will be in the cafeteria and the evening meeting will be held at 7 PM.

Middle School Crew Extends Undefeated Streak at MPSRA to 3 Years

Congratulations to our grammar school boys who charged through the field of the Middle School Coxed 4x/+ in the final meters to take first from Bromfield by 0.008 seconds! Check out the link for the photo finish 2017 MPSRA Boys Middle School 4x/+. Their effort means that Methuen Crew has never lost a gammar school event at the Massachusetts Public Schools Rowing Association Chmpionship in our three year history!

Back in Action

The spring season is in full swing for Methuen Crew as our grammar school and first year high school athletes join the already in progress training of the varsity teams.
